Applications have now closed
From October 2024 to September 2025, we will support 12 disabled people who are at an early stage of their careers in the music and live events industry. The programme will help develop their knowledge and skills with the aim to become confident industry leaders of the future.
Who is the programme for?
The Future Leaders programme is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. It is for anyone who identifies as Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent or having a long-term physical and mental health condition, and is in the early stages of their career in the music and live events industry.
If you’re looking for support to develop your career and ability to advocate for change across the industry, this is the programme for you!
What will Future Leaders get out of the programme?
We know all our Future Leaders want different things, so we will try to find the right areas to support you.
Areas we can offer include
- Accessing mentorship opportunities
- Understanding the variety of roles in the music and live events sector
- Learning how to become specialists in accessibility work
- Practical skills for freelance work such as invoicing clients or managing self-employment
- Opportunities to learn from senior figures within the music industry
- Being part of a supportive network of Future Leaders
- Opportunities to learn communication and media skills, and act as ambassadors for Beyond the Music
What is the commitment?
To ensure you get the most out the programme, we require you to commit to the following:
- Join a one-hour online Future Leaders network session once a month
- Engage with and support others in the Future Leaders Network
- Actively participate in the mentoring process
- Identify a goal at the start of the programme and work with us, as well as independently, to achieve it
- Take part in any evaluation opportunities for Attitude is Everything, our funders, or our partners.
What kind of people are you looking for?
We’re looking to recruit people who are:
- Able to self-reflect and use lived experience to assist others to understand how the industry can be more accessible
- Collaborative and keen to build relationships
- Eager to learn from others in the music and live events industry, and to put that learning into practice
- Committed to their own personal development and able to identify clear personal goals for the programme
- And who identify as Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent or having a physical or mental health condition.
