The Live Events Access Charter helps organisations create more inclusive, welcoming and accessible live event experiences. Funded primarily through Arts Council England to support music and arts festivals and venues, the Charter brings together practical guidance, expert insight and a growing community committed to improving access across the sector.

Commercial events and organisations can now join as paid Charter Members, gaining access to the same trusted support, resources and accreditation pathway used by live event organisations working to raise their accessibility standards.

Membership gives your team the confidence, tools and expert guidance to identify barriers, strengthen audience experience and demonstrate a clear commitment to disabled customers, artists, staff and visitors.

Eligible Events and Organisations

We welcome organisations that host events of all kinds to utilise our Charter Membership. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Seasonal and themed public events: fireworks festivals; light, sound and winter walks; Halloween and scare attractions; holiday events.
  • Outdoor, rural and horticultural events: agricultural shows, county shows and flower shows.
  • Food, drink and lifestyle festivals: food and drink festivals, markets, tasting events and similar consumer events.
  • Military and ceremonial events: military events, tattoos, parades and ceremonial displays.
  • Business and trade events: meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), trade shows and expos.
  • Sporting events and venues: sports competitions and sports stadiums hosting music or other live events.
  • Charity, fundraising and recognition events: fundraising events, gala events and awards shows.
  • Visitor attractions and leisure venues: attractions, theme parks and entertainment destinations.

Member benefits

Charter Membership is designed to give commercial event organisations a practical route to better access: clear guidance, expert support, peer learning and a recognised framework for progress. Whether you are starting to improve your access offer or looking to strengthen existing practice, membership helps you move from good intentions to measurable action.

 Onboarding and every 2 years:  

  • Initial 1-2-1 introductory call with Attitude is Everything and lead client contact  
  • An online open Welcome Meeting (90 minutes) 
  • This can be booked via Eventbrite 
  • Review and feedback of the accreditation submission 

Ongoing member benefits throughout your two-year membership:

  • Access to the Live Events Access Charter Portal, including: 
    • Guidance, case studies and examples of practice  
    • Forum to connect with other members 
    • Accreditation submission  
  • Community activities, including:
    • Charter Member Catch Ups: An online facilitated discussion space sharing accessibility practice and advice.   
    • Quarterly newsletters:  Sharing opportunities, best practice, examples, and updates. 
    • Annual Celebration: An opportunity to share your successes.
  • Public recognition: Use Charter membership assets across your website and social channels to demonstrate your commitment to accessibility, celebrate your progress and be listed as a member on our website.
  • On-going support: Access continued guidance and feedback opportunities to help you strengthen your accessibility practice.

Charter Membership lasts for two years. At the end of your membership, you’ll have the opportunity to renew and continue your accessibility journey through our assessment process.

Training  

As a core part of the Charter journey, disability equality training gives your team the knowledge and confidence to put accessibility into practice. This valuable training helps staff understand barriers, improve customer experience and embed inclusive thinking across your event planning and delivery. The number of staff taking part is based on the Charter level you are working towards.

Alongside Charter Membership, our experienced consultancy team can provide tailored support to help you make faster, more confident progress. Bespoke access consultancy can strengthen your Charter journey through practical guidance shaped around your organisation, event or venue.

Support can include access workshops for your team, site visits and accessibility reviews, feedback on marketing and online content, and guidance to help embed inclusive policies and processes across your organisation.
