For our mystery shoppers and volunteers, live music is more than just a passion. It’s about substantial change that they can bring to the industry, with accessibility front and centre.
In their own words, here’s what drives them and why they love what they do.
The impact of mystery shopping and volunteering
VC had initially volunteered at Southbank Centre (London), and once that came to an end, they were keen to continue volunteering in a music environment due to their strong appreciation for live music.
“Music both energises me physically and elevates me mentally” -VC
Our mystery shoppers and volunteers are crucial in reaching our vision. From evaluating access at live music events to offering hands-on support at live music festivals – they are the ones that make our work possible.
VC shares that mystery shopping for Attitude is Everything has had several positive impacts. They’ve enjoyed the novelty of discovering different venues and attending different gigs, all the while raising awareness on the barriers faced by disabled people in the live music events industry.
“Having the opportunity to use my lived experience as a disabled person to positively bring about improvements for access that can impact the quality of life for others like me.” -VC
Sharing their experience of festival volunteering during the summer, VC found comfort in the connections that they were able to build with other volunteers. As someone who is chronically ill, VC tends to feel isolated but has been able to find “a sense of belonging” through festival volunteering where they are able to bond with other disabled people of similar interests.
“Supporting Attitude is Everything in the very valuable work that they do is very empowering.” VC
