Miss Jacqui becomes Co-Chair and five new Trustees join the team

26.04.23

We are delighted to announce that Jacqui Adeniji-Williams has become our new Co-Chair alongside Jane Dyball. Jacqui takes over this role from out-going Co-Chair Hannah McKearnen.

Jacquie is a Poet and Songwriter using the name Miss Jacqui who knows a great deal about working with the cards that you are dealt. She is someone who always tries to challenge societal perceptions, including what it means to be a black woman with a disability. A wheelchair user herself, Miss Jacqui wants her poetry and music to help her listeners to see the world differently, and to inspire others to feel confident in being themselves. She has spent over 15+ years creating, performing, and advocating for change in different industries.

It’s been a huge pleasure working with Attitude is Everything as a trustee. In all the years I’ve known about this great organisation I’ve witnessed it go from strength to strength. As a Trustee I have grown a better understanding of all the incredible work Attitude is Everything does and learnt more about how important Attitude is Everything is to the music industry. It‘s my pleasure to stand (sit) as co-chair for this next incredible chapter at Attitude is Everything.

Alongside Jacqui’s appointment, we are proud to announce the addition of four new Trustees and a Shadow Trustee to our team in recent months. They come to us from a range of professional backgrounds, bringing a wealth of talent and new ideas to Attitude is Everything.

Daniel Pounder (Treasurer)

An Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales who has worked in senior finance positions for nearly two decades at major international media conglomerates, including Viacom, Sony and Bertelsmann.

I’m delighted to join the trustee board of Attitude is Everything as Treasurer.  Attitude is Everything is a brilliant charity committed to real change in the music industry for disabled people led by inspiring leaders and committed staff.  I am glad to be able to support all of their efforts.

Adrian Bossey (Trustee)

Head of Subject at the Cornwall Business School, Falmouth University and a former artist manager. He worked on 15 UK top forty albums, managed the main stage headline act at Glastonbury Festival (1992) and promoted the original launch party for Attitude is Everything.

As a passionate advocate for access to live music for people who are Deaf or disabled, and having supported Attitude is Everything to develop on-line CPD courses and gain accreditation powers, I am very pleased and excited to become a Trustee.

Ray Pope (Trustee)

Director of Creative Talent Acquisition at Universal Music UK where she oversees recruitment for all of the labels and central UK teams. She was part of the team that worked on Creative Differences, Universal Music UK’s handbook for embracing neurodiversity in the creative industries.

I wanted to be a Trustee for Attitude is Everything because I am a passionate advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and diversity. Everyone has the right to experience music and live events. Attitude Is Everything strives to improve, challenge, and change accessibility for all. Valuing disabled people as audience members, performers, professionals, and volunteers is something we should all care deeply about. There should be no barriers to people having the same experiences.

Ben Price (Trustee)

An Artist Manager with a focus on disability integration in the music industry. His company Harbourside Management represents international artists and helps to curate international events with artists outside their roster, ensuring there is integration of artists with disabilities across the sector.

I am delighted and extremely humbled to be a Trustee at Attitude is Everything, an organisation which has been a great inspiration in my own work to help increase disabled representation in the music industry. The work Suzanne and the team have done over the last two decades has greatly improved the experiences of disabled people who interact with music both as audience members and as artists, and I am excited and motivated to help the organisation build on that.

Hannah McLennan (Shadow Trustee)

UK Music’s Parliamentary and Research Manager. She leads on the sustainability and health and wellbeing work strands, plus UK Music’s work with the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Music. She has worked closely with the UK Music Diversity Taskforce since May 2022, including on the 2022 Diversity Report.

I am delighted to be joining Attitude is Everything as a Shadow Trustee – a role which is both new for me and the organisation! I have greatly admired the work of Attitude is Everything since joining UK Music, particularly the work done around the Live Events Access Charter. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis when I was younger, so accessibility is a huge priority for me. The 2022 UK Music Diversity Report, which I worked on last year, also showed there is so much more to be done within the industry to open up career pathways for all. I can’t wait to get involved and see what the role brings.
