The first action of our Next Stage initiative was a survey of 96 artists with access requirements, highlighting a wide range of avoidable barriers to everything from rehearsing, recording and performing, to applying for funding and attending industry events.
- Half of the artists have encountered access barriers when seeking to rehearse.
- 2 in 3 of the artists who play live have had to compromise their health or wellbeing to do so.
- 96% think the industry can become more inclusive for artists with access requirements if they are more visible and able to share their experiences.
Launched at the Great Escape in May 2019, the results are a call to action to the industry to commit to true diversity, representation and accessibility.
